Many women who have never experienced a childbirth, find themselves fearing of pregnancy or childbirth while they are thinking of being a mother or they are pregnant. This is called as Tokophobia. It can cause due to bad experience about pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth etc, feeling alone.
Some common fears of pregnancy can be painful labor, premature birth, loss of baby, having delivery via c-section, not having a healthy baby. These fears are common in 1 out of 6 women. In this article we will discuss how we can overcome the fear of pregnancy.



How to overcome the fear of pregnancy?



   1.  Be positive 


      If you are fearing of being pregnant, think that you are not only woman on earth whose getting pregnant. Don’t think about negative experiences. Always think positive and be prepared before giving birth because it will heel you from inside.


    2. Educate yourself


      Education is the best medicine of all time. Educate yourself about pregnancy. Read pregnancy related books, consult a gynecologist, talk to a pregnancy related editor. There are lots of ways for education about pregnancy. You can also search e-books and web articles also.


   3. Talk to someone


Don’t feel alone. You will bottle up the fear and this will grow bigger. Talk to someone whom you trust. Talk to your partner or gynecologist or mom or someone who can understand you and can suggest you a better thing to do. This will help you get the support you required to relieve in hard times and overcome the stress and anxiety.


   4.  Meditation and yoga


Try some relaxing activities like yoga and meditation with right techniques. This will give you peace of mind also prepare your body to face pregnancy and labor.  


    5.  Consult a therapist


Tokophobia is a horrible fear about pregnancy and childbirth. It grows from nervousness, panic and anxiety. If you are not clear about what you are into, you need a proper guidance. For that you need to consult a therapist.
